Hillbilly Christmas in July, an organization dedicated to raising funds for The Shriners Hospital for Children-Lexington, is working to provide a Universal Playground to accommodate physically challendged children in Pikeville and Pike County. The City of Pikeville has graciously offered a parcel of land in Bob Amos Park at no cost, but $100,000 is needed to prepare and equip the site.

Please join us for a special evening as we offically begin our drive to Pave th Way. If you have a special needs child in your family, you understand the need. If not, we hope you'll open your heart and support this worthy endavor.

“A Battle We Must Win”

First of all, welcome to HillbillyChristmasInJuly.org! If this is your first visit, our mission statement is simple; we are totally dedicated to our “young ‘uns” at the Shriners Hospital for Children-Lexington, KY. We raise as much money as possible each year to donate to the hospital so that free care for the patients can continue.

This brings us to the subject of the headline “A Battle We Must Win”. An explanation of the economic woes in our world is not necessary here. Everyone who hasn’t been in a cave knows that times are tough. When businesses suffer, individuals suffer, and coupling those together, charitable organizations, such as the Shriners Hospital for Children, are left to scrape along as best they can. Endowments to these organizations are invested to generate the income necessary to keep them afloat and when the stock market bottoms out, you know the rest of the story. Enough said!

At Hillbilly Christmas in July, we refuse to concentrate on the down side of this situation. The hospital needs help and we are bound and determined to give it to them. We refuse to take a “what it might have been if it weren’t for the economy” attitude. We will win the battle. Obstacles are what you see when you take your eye off the goal, and we are focused on the goal. We are forging onward with the attitude that we will make as large a contribution to the hospital as humanly possible.

We encourage everyone to make whatever contribution possible, be it buying or selling tickets on our ’09 Harley Ultra Classic, volunteering at our events or just talking up the event to bring more people on board. Even if business and personal contributions are less than years before, we can make up for it in the number participants. Do it for the kids!

Keep an eye on this website for our schedule of events and activities!
