Hillbilly Christmas in July

Another riding season is here and it’s time to prepare for “Hillbilly Christmas in July”.  The committee is meeting regularly and plans are well underway for another successful event to raise money and toys for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital Lexington. 

This year a few changes have been made, and we hope everyone gets involved and helps support our hospital through this great event.  On Saturday July 19, a day of fun and games will be held at Harley Davidson of Pikeville.  We’ll have registration for the ride, door prizes, games and a silent auction with some really unique items.  At 5:00 Saturday afternoon we will have a huge bikers parade through Pikeville to get everyone’s attention as to our cause and our ride on Sunday.  

One of the elements that has changed on Saturday is an afternoon in the park for our Shriner’s kids.  This is being coordinated by Debbie Blackburn, and she is being assisted by Recreational Therapists from the Lexington hospital.  There will be food, refreshments and games for our hospital kids and when it ends at 5:00 the motorcycle parade will pass by. 

Sunday, the ride will leave Harley Davidson of Pikeville at 10:00 a.m. sharp.  We’ll stop at the Mountain Parkway Dragway for food and refreshments and then it’s on to Man O’ War Harley Davidson to prepare for the gigantic bike parade around the grounds of the hospital. 

We are looking forward to making this another great and memorable event, but more importantly, to make this another banner year in fund raising and toy gathering for the Shriner’s Childrens’ Hospital Lexington.
